Kingwood Center Gardens Announces Groundbreaking for Garden Gateway Project

Kingwood Center Gardens announces the groundbreaking for its new Garden Gateway Project on April 4, 2019, at 1:30 PM. Celebrating the event will be donors, staff, board members, general contractors, and other project contractors. An informal reception will follow in the Carriage House.

The exciting new construction of the 14,000 square foot Garden Gateway Center will create an enhanced and more welcoming experience for all guests. New amenities will include an on-site café, new seating areas, an exhibit gallery, and a gift shop featuring a new greenhouse area and garden shop space. Additionally, the Kingwood Ballroom will provide venue space for large-capacity events and meetings. A new and expanded Woodlands auto-garden parking lot, the Grand Perennial Garden and pavilion, and surrounding terrace gardens are among the outdoor updates included with the project.

Construction of the Garden Gateway Center Project is expected to be completed in summer 2020. This is Phase One, the largest of a five-phase master plan that will transform Kingwood for generations to come. The “Honoring the Past – Growing the Future” capital campaign is Kingwood’s first-ever.

The public is welcome to attend the groundbreaking ceremony. Please enter Kingwood through either entrance at Park Avenue West or Linden Road as the Trimble Road entrance will not be available during construction. Please anticipate off-site parking.

Kingwood Center Gardens has been open since 1953 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and 47-acre former estate garden.
