AI Literacy with Minecraft: Middle School Family Camp
Middle school students and their parents are invited to play Minecraft together while learning AI fundamentals. Families should commit to both session days on Tuesday, April 22 and Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the North Central State College Kehoe Center.
Who should apply?
North central Ohio students who are enrolled in grades 6-8 during the 2024-2025 school year. No experience is necessary.
Mission
The Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development and North Central State College are collaborating to provide Richland County students with an introduction to technology-based career pathways.

Content
Day 1: AI Adventures – Journey alongside two curious companions and explore the world of AI. Now anyone can learn the basics of AI, how AI helps us solve problems, and ways to be responsible when using AI tools. Learn how AI systems work, explore ways AI is helping us solve real-world problems, discover how to use AI tools safely and responsibly.
Day 2: AI for Earth – Learners will use the power of AI in a range of exciting real-world scenarios, including preservation of wildlife and ecosystems, helping people in remote areas, and research on climate change.

Registration Information
Participants
Registration is open to 20 middle school students and their parents on a first-come, first-served basis. A ratio of 1 student to 1 parent is recommended. Parents can accompany more than one middle school student, but one application per student should be completed.
Tuition
This program is funded through a Microsoft TechSpark grant and North Central State College Foundation. There is no cost to participate.
Supplies
Each family should bring a laptop. A limited number of laptops are available upon request.
Commitment
Families should commit to attending both days of the camp.
