All About Ambassadors
Looking through our Ambassadors roster, you will recognize many familiar faces! You may have seen them frequenting Chamber events, attending ribbon cuttings or they may have personally visited you when you joined the Chamber. This group acts as an extension of the Chamber staff, helping expand our reach and ensuring a great experience for all of our members. Acting as the unofficial spirit committee of the Chamber, our Ambassadors are some of our most active volunteers and truly are at the heart of what we do!
What do Chamber Ambassadors Do?
Our Ambassadors help the Chamber out in three main ways. The first is by helping us out with events. With over 100 events being held each year and a member to staff ratio of about 200:1, we need plenty of help to pull off many of our great events. Helping with everything from ushering, hosting mini-game shows, handing out prize baskets and more are our Chamber Ambassadors!
The next way Ambassadors help at the Chamber is by attending Ribbon Cuttings. In October alone we have 6 ribbon cuttings scheduled, and our Ambassadors will be on hand to help with those celebrations and congratulate business owners.
Finally, Ambassadors help us welcome new members to the Chamber by conducting new member visits. The goal of these visits is to welcome new members and give them another friendly face to watch for at Chamber events. At these visits they also deliver ambassador goodie bags full of promotion items from other members to any new businesses.
Outside of those responsibilities, we call on our Ambassadors to help plan our Member Appreciation Day in June. This give-back event is a free lunch to celebrate our members and what they mean to the Chamber!
What is the commitment of being an Ambassador?
We have a monthly meeting for the Ambassadors committee the final Thursday of the month at 8:00 am here at the Chamber building. In these meetings we discuss upcoming events/ribbon cuttings, review member visits completed and assign new member visits. At these meetings we outline all of the opportunities available and committee members can choose what they do based on their schedule and interested. We do ask that our Ambassadors try to conduct at least one member visit per quarter!
How do I become an Ambassador?
The best way to get involved is to talk to a Chamber Ambassador, like Ambassador Chair Donna Gilmore from Southern Title, or visit an upcoming meeting. New ambassadors get a quick boot camp to be sure they know their Chamber information, and then get to shadow a few member visits to become “official.” Interested in learning more?
