Name: Holly Christie
Organization: Mansfield City Schools
Role: Director of Student Support Programs
LU Graduation Year: 2020
Why should graduates of LU attend alumni events such as socials, dinners, and panels?
After spending a year working closely with your class, it is so nice to catch up at the alumni events. I also enjoy networking and meeting people from other classes. I always run into LU alumni on boards I serve on and at community functions. It is great to know that even if I am attending a community event solo, I will inevitably run into someone who was in LU.
How would you describe your LU experience?
My LU experience helped me learn about and feel connected to my community. I have lived in Richland County my entire life, and this experience helped me select nonprofits I was passionate about for volunteer opportunities and giving back to my community.
In what ways do you feel more equipped and connected after graduating from LU?
In addition to the social benefits, there are connections with different agencies and businesses in my work life. LU friends can introduce me to people in their work environment for possible collaboration and partnerships with the school district. I am also more aware of resources available to our community and can refer families and students to services they may benefit from.
Describe your civic engagement roles, such as board and volunteer service.
Community Advisory Council, Connections Fund Advisory Committee, United Way Board of Directors, Wayfinders Ohio Board Member, Big Red Bookshelf Committee
Fun fact about you: I decorate several Christmas trees each year. I am up to 15 at this time. Every room and window in my house has a tree with a different theme. My husband Craig, LU Class of 2005, is a real sport and is in charge of checking lights and fluffing the trees.
